What OEKO-TEX® Means for Export Garments

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is the worldwide benchmark for consumer product safety in the textile supply chain. To receive certification, every individual component—including metal rivets, plastic teeth, polyester threads, and printing dyes—must be tested and verified free from more than 350 regulated chemicals.

Product Class I

Babywear (Up to 36 Months)

The strictest chemical thresholds for saliva resistance, zero formaldehyde, and absence of heavy metals in infant fasteners.

Product Class II

Direct Skin Contact

Certified for jeans, underwear, shirts, and waistbands with direct prolonged dermal exposure.

Product Class III

Outerwear Materials

Heavy jacket zips, parkas, pocket linings, and coats with non-direct skin contact.

Product Class IV

Rigorously screened against 350+ harmful chemicals, carcinogenic arylamines, formaldehyde & heavy metals.

European REACH Compliant

EN 1811 Nickel-Free

Nickel release rate below 0.28 µg/cm²/week under artificial sweat immersion for direct skin contact.

Lead & Phthalate Safe

US CPSIA & ASTM F963

Total lead content under 90 ppm on coated hardware; satisfies 17-lbf infant snap pull tension standards.

Zero Discharge Chemistry

ZDHC MRSL Level 3

Zero discharge of hazardous chemistry throughout yarn dyeing, electroplating, and finishing baths.

1.0mm Fe Calibrated

9-Point Needle Detection

Cold-forged non-ferrous brass and copper alloys guarantee zero false alarm halts on factory inspection gates.

Batch Acceptance Testing

AQL 2.5 Quality Standard

Statistical acceptance sampling inspecting dimensions, plating thickness, tensile pull, and colorfastness.

Non-ferrous metal tack buttons calibrated for needle detection machines
Garment Factory Safety

Calibrated for Factory Needle Detector Gates

Export apparel factories use automated conveyor needle detectors (calibrated to 1.0mm – 1.2mm ferrous sensitivity) to ensure no broken sewing needle fragments remain in shipped garments.

All metallic tack buttons, rivets, and zipper components from BR Textile Sourcing are cold-forged using certified non-ferrous brass (CuZn37) or copper alloys, eliminating false alarm rejects on customer inspection lines.
